Back in Action! -or- I've got Gas!

Howdy! Finally have some work to report. I've got air in my tanks again, so I was finally able to braze up the front triangle and chain stays. I have to say that these have probably been my best brazes yet. Not that there is no room to improve, but I'm pretty happy with the results. Hoping to finish up the seat stays, braze-ons, and do the finish work on her in the next couple weeks. Then it's starting all over again with a (lugged?) road frame for my Florida buddy Mike.

Would your lady let you do this in the bathroom sink?

Good brazes = good heat control, and less time to file smooth afterwards.

Head tube and seat tube were left long for the braze. They'll be cut down afterwards.

On a side note: I don't know if anyone else has been dealing with more aggression on the roads lately, but I've had a few run-ins with some angry drivers lately. I hope these have been isolated cases, but I get the feeling that higher gas prices add to an already hasty drivers impatience. Either way, ride safe and legal out there. Please don't give people any more reason to hate cyclists. Even if you get away with it, they might take it out on the next one they meet.

So, out of curiosity, exactly what were you doing in the bathroom sink?

After the brazing, I have to soak off the flux, which has turned into an almost glass like coating. Cold water, it would take 3-4 hours. Hot water, and it only takes 40 minutes. So, joint by joint, I put it in the sink, and keep it filled with piping hot water.

One day, I'll build a tub with a heating element, so I don't have to use the sink.

Very handy work I see here Mr. Fellet. The frame you are biulding for Burnin' appears to be flux free, go ahead and remove it from your sink.

I prefer "I've got gas"
It's almost a bike, how very exciting! What is the geometry this one is built off?

Your buddy in FL wants a lugged roadie frame!!!

No good on the crazies on the road. If it is any comfort, this is one of the few summers I can remember in Gainesville where there hasn't been any notable cyclist/driver conflicts.

I got the specs, most of them are on a sheet that was worked out at the sports sciences building. Gotta scan it for you, but my scanner is packed as I'm moving in two days!

Thank you Nico, the frame is in fact out of the sink now.

Marc, I do have gas. And this frame is built off of my old Giant XTC frame (which may turn into a single speed?) with a few small tweaks for experimentation.

Kick ass Mike. I'll send you some lug options when I figure out what the geometry will need to be for ya. Good luck on the move.

Awe dude, that's the sink that I wash my feet in - can't you soak the flux off somewhere else?!

Mr. F. Brazer, I sent you an email regarding the current situation with the Honky-Tonk to your felletbrazing address that you probably dont check too often. Hooler back when you are ready.
